Great Cause!
About this Project
The International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros (ISPMB) is the oldest wild horse and burro organization in the United State. Along with our first president, Wild Horse Annie, we were instrumental in getting legislation passed in 1971 which protected wild horses and burros so future generations could enjoy seeing them in the wild.
Since 1971, wild horses and burros have lost nearly half of their areas where they once roamed and more than 19 million acres of land. In 1999, the ISPMB began the first and only wild horse conservation center in the United States where we manage four wild herds. We have spent eleven years studying the social behaviors of these unique animals and have extraordinary results to be published by the end of 2011.
Two herds no longer exist anywhere else in our country except on ISPMB’s ranch. Our studies will help protect wild horses on public lands. Your support in helping us sustain this conservation program and will allow us to continue our important studies. We have some of the first information on social behaviors of western herds.
