Mogley is a 3 year Black Lab with a severely luxated hip and a growing septic infection possibility. This will be the last of Mogley’s road to recovery, as he has already had procedures for a head wound and other internal injuries.
Mogley and his partner escaped the care of their owners, and ran into traffic. Unfortunately, Mogley’s brother died due to his injuries. Mogley survived the hardest part, which was the head injury.
He now has one more hurdle to overcome, and hopefully keep his leg. His hip is severely luxated, and the vet is concerned that infection due to the massive injury may cause the dog to go septic. The vet is hopeful that he can save the leg, but the owners are only concerned with saving Mogley’s life.
The owners have already put over $7000 into Mogley’s care, and simply do not have the funds to overcome this last procedure.
We are reaching out to our Angels to help this young guy have a chance at a full life.
Can you give Mogley the gift of future? If you can help, please visit our specific Pet In Need Donations page. Mark your donation “GF – Mogley Stolley”.
Remember no amount is too small. Please share Mogley’s story on your social networking sites and with your friends. Time is once again not on our side.
This is the place where Magic happens, we need to pull out some for Mogley!
This is the letter Handipets received from Mogley’s Family
Dear Becky and Amy
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I do already have a vet, they are the Summit Veterinary Referral Center @253-983-1114. They already accept donations over the phone. I have an estimation done up by the vet which I can fax over this afternoon. My paypal email address is jamieinreallife@yahoo.com.
We adopted Mogley from the Tacoma Humane Society in October of 2010 right after my husband and I got back from Iraq. We adopted his little brother Bagheera a couple of months later from a rescue. After that our little family turned into a hiking family; going out almost every weekend to different trails all over Washington. Mogley LOVES it! Up until now we have been very happy. Mogley and Bagheera are like my children. Then on April 15th, somehow Mogley and another dog friend that was visiting broke the latch on the old wooden gate in our back yard and Mogley and Bagheera were hit by a car. Bagheera did not make it but Mogley was rushed to intensive care. He is a very strong guy and has survived a collapsed lung, lung contusions and severe head trauma. We have spent over $7,000.00 on his medical treatment and he is doing much better. He now needs hip surgery and possibly a leg amputation due to irreparable damages. Once he has this surgery he will need a few weeks of recovery and then will most likely move on to be a strong, happy and healthy 3 yr old guy. The surgery is estimated to be $4,500.00. Without the surgery he will die. We just don’t have any money left and without the surgery are faced with the decision of having our baby put down. We are reaching out for any kind of help.
Thank you so much for any kind of help you can provide!!!

I have amazing news. I spoke with Dr. Hofeling this afternoon and he said that since Mogley’s leg has taken such a turn for the better that he does not feel an amputation is necessary; however he still needs to get in there and repair the hip as soon as possible. Especially since Mogley can’t even get around enough right now to go to the bathroom. He decided to do the surgery tonight because Mogley really needs it. But he said he has never seen anyone try so hard and come up with so many donations and what not so he basically cut his surgery fee down to almost nothing. So the estimate went from $4500 to $2000-$2500 and that includes Mogley’s overnight stay tonight. Therefore it does not have to be paid until tomorrow before Mogley checks out.
Now, I have the original $500 plus today I did a lot of fundraising within my unit at work and at the coffee shop across the street; I got almost $300 in donations today and a couple people said they are going to give me some money tomorrow. Plus Another girl I work with said she could loan me like $500, definately not to exceed $1000. I just have to pay her back on the first. And if Labrador Life Line still helps with their pledge than that should about cover it!
