My 5 year old Alaskan Malamute, Boom, was recently diagnosed with a large brain tumor. I am trying to raise money to help pay for her radiation treatment. I adopted Boom when she was two years old from a guy who didn’t take good care of her. He gave her beer and drugs for fun and left her outside most of the time. She was a little bit of work when I first brought her home; she had food and toy aggressions, and tried to assert herself as the Alpha. After a little love and training I managed to earn her trust and love. Ever since, she has been a wonderful companion. She kept me company on the long drive across the country when we moved from Washington, DC to California. Though she is 95 pounds, she is a total daddy’s girl and often tries to sleep curled up between my legs.
On February 6th, Boom started having seizures. On February 16th, after drugs weren’t working very well, I brought her in for an MRI. Sadly, it revealed a large tumor in her brain. She has been undergoing radiation therapy since March 2, which is the only possible successful treatment option with minimal drawbacks/side effects. She’s responding well to the radiation so far and has started to perk up a little bit and act more like herself.
Every single penny counts…really, that is what MicroGiving is all about, small change adding up to make big difference. Please don’t go away saying you can’t help…surely you have just a dollar? That would be one dollar more than there was in the collection a minute ago and later there would be a dollar more. Please consider just a single dollar and click this link: http://www.microgiving.com/profile/SterlingDWatts
This is a very unexpected cost, and one for which I don’t have all the money yet. It’s an expensive treatment, but worth it to keep my beautiful girl healthy longer. The radiation is going to cost around $6,764.00, and I am hoping to raise $8,564.00 to help with the expenses (radiation, drugs, and MRIs). I work as a server at Karl Strauss and I don’t have enough funds to pay for the treatment. I have taken out Care Credit (essentially a loan for vet bills), but am hoping to minimize some of the costs so I can afford it. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
For every donation of $25 or higher, you will receive a hand written thank you note and a Sears photocard, good for one free session at Sears Portrait Studio, an 8 x 8 portrait and two enhanced 5 x 5 portraits (valued at $54.99).
Donors who give $50 or more will also receive a “paw”tographed picture of Boom, her way of thanking you for your help.
Boom had a rough start to her life. I just want to make sure she has the best quality of life possible. Thank you for your generosity and support. It means so much to me.
Also, please use the “share buttons” on my page to spread the word to others. I will be keeping things updated on my Facebook page; please check it out and follow how Boom is doing!
